Hello to the board, Iam a first time user on this board.
Thanks to all of you great posts. Iam currently looking
to purchase a 1988 ford 3910 series 2 4x4 tractor, It has
700 hrs on it. It has a ford fel and a woods 6 foot finish
mower that is 2 years old. It also comes with a 6ft. bottom
plow. It has been garaged since purchase. IT also has all
of its maintance records I have seen these myself it is in great shape and drives very well and is mechanically sound.
I was hoping to get some feedback from the board on the asking price, asking price is $10,500. Does this seem fair.
again many thanks to the board, I have learned a lot from
all. thanks,john

I like Fords since I have a 1710. 3910's are out of my experience I only have experience and info about the '10 -series compacts--which run to 2110's. The 43 pto hp was larger for what were called compacts at the time but isn't out of the ball park now. "Fraid I don't know anything about them except my faith that mid-80's Fords were basically sound tractors. Dealer and parts support from NH has been OK.

My sense of market price also wouldn't be much good for your area. Maybe the best test of a good price is comparing it to alternatives that are available where you are. I've never regretted shaving some off an initial budget by going for an older used low hour tractor myself. However, a newer one might have more transmission choices, better power steering, more hydraulics and a front drive designed specifically for heavy loader work. Those are tradeoffs I didn't mind making. My TX does have a synchromesh 12 x 4 TX that provides 4 synchromesh reverses. The reverses are good for 3ph snow blowers and blading in reverse and more importantly for loader work. An optional 3910 TX is an 8x4 but I don't know if any gears are synchromesh.

Aq t fist glance I thought it might be a little high but the 3000 series were good tractors and have held their value well. Low is 10 K and high is 12K for a cream puff. From your description it seems like prime rib. Add 1.5K for the loader and 5-7 hundred for the Woods mower and 3-5 for the bottom plow. I don't see how you could go wrong. You must be near dealer list for the equipment at 10.5K.

thanks for your insite Peters, the tractor was an elder farmer who sold his farm to a close friends brother-inlaw. He
purchased it along with the house,he already has his own tractor.he brought it for 10.5 and fortunately he only
wanted what he paid for it.the dealer who did all of the service work on it offered him 14k for it I guess because they knew what kind of shape it was in with low hours. It pays to
have friends in the right place.again thanks,
